Crystalline City
An imagined skyline built from a lattice of thin wooden sticks and translucent coloured panels, exploring how geometry, light and shadow can shape a sense of place.

Hi, I'm Asma — a first-year Design & Innovation student exploring where product design, engineering and people meet. Currently sketching, prototyping and asking too many questions in Bristol.
An imagined skyline built from a lattice of thin wooden sticks and translucent coloured panels, exploring how geometry, light and shadow can shape a sense of place.
A deposit-based cup system designed with five independent cafés, tested with 40 users over two weeks.
An Arduino-powered rear light that brightens when riders slow down on Bristol's steepest streets.
A Figma prototype helping new students find lecture halls, with step-free routes as the default.
Ethnographic study of 12 student houses, mapping friction points around shared appliances and space.
A compact, soil-free growing system that fits on a windowsill. A small pump circulates nutrient water through three stacked channels, so flatmates can grow fresh herbs using up to 90% less water than a pot of soil.
I'm in my first year of the BSc Design & Innovation programme at the University of Bristol, a course that blends engineering, creative practice and business thinking. Before uni I spent most weekends taking things apart to see how they worked (and occasionally putting them back together).
I'm drawn to projects that sit at the intersection of sustainability and everyday objects — the cups, lights, tools and apps people use without thinking. Outside of studio, you'll find me at the Design Society, climbing at Redpoint, or hunting for the best flat white on Gloucester Road.
Start with people. Interviews, observation and a lot of sticky notes.
Fill pages fast. Quantity first, then find the ideas worth keeping.
Cardboard, foam, code — build rough prototypes to learn quickly.
Put it in real hands, watch what breaks, and go round again.
